Just use this http://pastebin.com/rqPvQV2P to make a new thread, and I can merge them so that the comments will still be in the same thread.
So, would I be able to write a Pokemon Through the Ages thread about Azumarill? I don't know it well before gen 4, but that's nothing a bit of research can't cure. It didn't get good til gen 4 anyway lol
Well Azu wasn't even used that much up until Gen5 iirc. If you don't enough knowledge on a topic I suggest you avoid it.
Well, there's not a huge amount to write on gens 2 and 3, while I know it pretty well on gens after that. But yeah, I can understand if you'd rather we avoided stuff like that.
It could be the tale of a lowly squire training and going on a quest to be the mighty water/fairy dragon hunter it is now. Long as you have some subject matter to talk about some humor could possibly carry you to DP where it found a solid home in UU. Unlike Snorlax where it was about it starting strong, being the best in GSC and slowly declining Azu could be about how it eventually clawed up to OU usage with each improvement it got. It's certainly easier to write about Pokémon who are consistently strong throughout the generations but it's worth a try to do something like Azumarill. That's my opinion though.
Yeah, I can certainly see the lowly squire story working. Azumarill's that Pokemon that's gotten consistently better each generation, starting with God-awful in gen 2, to at least usable in Gen 3, actually decent in Gen 4, and the meaning of fear itself in Gen 6.
Sure thing, Joy. Scald's at least in Grammar now, so that's something. Once it gets a going over, I'll probably start on it. :3
OK, so time to add a new row for Spoovo. Next time bump this thread before making the thread or imma lock it like I did with Scald. (Letting you go this time cuz you did kinda, but I was too sleepy to notice it was a reserving post)
Since gen7 has taken off at Smogon. There is probably no point in slacking down here, especially considering the fact 2 SM RMTs have been done here already. Reserving PokeSpotlight Tapu Bulu and Tapu Lele after Bulu's goin into grammar.
btw we gotta get some non 'legend' mons in the mix i rly wanna do Celesteela though @Joyverse im very surprised you arent reserving salazzle
I, uh, grew out of the Hyper Offense shenanigans lol. Not so fun rn. You can do Celes after your CoreBD is done.
of course! btw uu is out on ps now, although its basically oras ou. but it will be set in a couple of months. salazzle gonna take over
I'd ignore UU for a while. Gen 6 PO UU was much different from PS UU and I expect no less from Gen 7 considering that we're also late in implementing Gen 7 as well which would end in a wildly different UU. Will edit this with a list of Gen7 PSpots. Fucking hell. Smogon move way too fast. O.o I'll see if I can advance my article(s) tonight, so that we look a touch more productive.
Just want to make a note about release dates: when an article is approved and given a release date, let me know asap if you won't have time to post the article that day, and we can probably reschedule it. This is why they're typically "tentative."
UPDATE: With the Gen7 going on strong. I have decided add a list of to-do Pokemon Spotlights within the next few months. Check post #59 for the list. I am going to be adding this in the OP as well. Tagging @ZoroDark and @Mysterious M , @Finchinator , and @E.T. , to check the Ubers, OU and LC lists respectively for any addition or removals.
The fact that it's not a spotlight anymore is a reason to do a spotlight on it in the first place, imo.
Yeah, Darkrai's had a big falling from grace this gen with Dark Void getting nerfed. That alone is worth an article imo
What? In this list all i see are Pokemon that shape the gen 7 meta. (Lunala not in such a degree but it is hyped because of a solid newcoming mon) Therefore i see no point in have a spotlight about Darkrai. --- Post updated --- I will try to not let it die. Article chosen- Cool sets to use Tier- SM Ubers Pokemon- Choice Specs Yveltal
pokemon spotlights provide an insight into a dominant pokémon of a metagame - if the pokemon is not dominant / is niche, I don't see how that fact alone warrants a spotlight
I agree that Darkrai shouldn't get a Pokemon Spotlight if it is no longer a significant part of the Ubers metagame. If it did get one, I think it would essentially be "Darkrai's Dark Void sucks now, so here's all the things it can't do now" or "here's all the things it tries to do (but fails) with Hypnosis". Neither sound very appealing to me. Darkrai would be okay for a Pokemon Through the Generations though if it included Generation 7. I'll add stuff to the LC list eventually unless someone is interested in writing about LC stuff right now.
So yeah, once Azumarill advances to Grammar, I'll take Spotlight on Toxapex, and then Pheromosa after that. That is, if no one objects? Joyverse edit: OP should be updated now
Also, sorry for the double post, but it serves as a useful bump bcus OP editing crap, and also; is it worth writing an article on something that perhaps isn't so good because of some fatal flaw, and detailing why that is? Examples: Slaking - Truant Archeops - Defeatist Entei - Movepool If not... *shrug* Twas a thought.
Entei would be a strong candidate for through the Generations since Sacred Fire literally pushed it from meh suicide bomber in NU/LU to a very solid UU mon. The article could be about all of the negative abilities used to nerf down otherwise powerful pokemon. Something nerfed by lack of variance in its move pool could be an entirely different one-off article all on its own.
What did you say about Entei? >:( It's useful movepool isn't bad at all. Also not supporting the article 'cause it seems like you are a person with crippling depression wanting to spread nihilistic subjects on pokemon! >:V
Yup, fair points guys. Just figured it was worth a look, see if anyone was interested. Could've called it 'Missed the Mark' or something. Also nice mention on Entei. I did originally have Flareon there, but it has also improved drastically over time. Still by no means good, but hey.
This one's a bit weird, but hear me out. Back when the rugby world cup was a thing (late 2015), I had this crazy idea of writing an article comparing competitive Pokémon with it, assigning each participating country a Pokémon and all that shit. I know it sounds dumb even as I write this, but would anyone indulge me enough to see it written? Or am I just being an idiot? Methinks the latter, probably. (I doubt anyone here even cares about rugby?)
Well, it can probably be applied to other mediums too. Just some way of 'translating' competitive Pokémon to people who don't understand it, in a way that they do. I do this with my flatmate all the time, using Persona and Kingdom Hearts as the perspective.
