Hey guys, with XY settling in there are sure to be new and effective cores. Use this thread to showcase core you have found good and/or creative in the current meta. Please do comment and help improve the cores of others.

I'll start off with a cool little core:

    Carvanha (M) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Speed Boost
    EVs: 196 Atk / 40 Def / 80 SAtk / 160 Spd
    Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef)
    - Waterfall / Hydro Pump
    - Hidden Power [Fire] / Ice Beam
    - Crunch
    - Protect

    +

    Croagunk (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Dry Skin
    EVs: 212 HP / 28 Atk / 36 Def / 108 SAtk / 116 SDef
    Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
    - Vacuum Wave
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Knock Off
    - Drain Punch / Icy Wind

Pretty effective core that supports Carvanha. Waterfall and Crunch are STABs on Carvanha, getting decent coverage. Hidden Power Fire smacks Ferroseed hard especially if Eviolite-less. Ice Beam hits other Grass types harder. Croagunk removes Eviolites with Knock Off, making it easier for vanha to break through enemy defenses. Vacuum Wave hits opposing Carvanha. Sludge Bomb for Fairies. Drain Punch for longevity and hitting Ferroseed hard. Icy Wind is another option to hit Gligar on the switch. Gligar is a real pain for this core, unless its weakened enough for it to be KOd by Waterfall from Carvanha. Apposing Crougunk can also cause trouble.

    [IMG] (M) @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Hustle
    EVs: 252 Atk / 36 SDef / 196 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Brave Bird
    - U-turn
    - Superpower
    - Return

    +

    [IMG] (M) @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Volt Absorb
    EVs: 56 Def / 232 SAtk / 220 Spd
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Hydro Pump
    - Hidden Power [Grass]
    - Ice Beam
    - Volt Switch

Two scarfers in any tier is usually bad, especially in LC. Its funny that this is a great core of two scarfers. Rufflet is a physical nuke. Chinchou is usually a speedy revenger. The only thing Rufflet is ever worried about is a Brave Bird miss. The down side to Rufflet is its strongest move's recoil. Brave Bird recoil can stop nukage really early in the match which can be really troublesome, so when paired with Chinchou, it makes a great volt turn core that doesn't need Mienfoo. Rufflet has a hard time staying in after a super power, there are to many ghosts to use return safely in the early to mid game, and Brave Bird kills off Rufflet to soon, so Rufflet wants late game play. It's really a waste to keep back Rufflet's power till the end of a match or when needed to blow up some wall, so spamming U-Turn can rack up serious damage and is a huge momentum grabber allowing me to always switch into my check to whatever I face. Chinchou backs up Rufflet by tanking and taking out everything that can live a brave bird, and having a strong volt switch to bring in Rufflet for easy Brave Bird KO's with minimal recoil. Speedy Chinchou like to think they can take out Rufflet with a nice thunderbolt, so my Chinchou can come in, absorb the hit, and either deal good damage to the switch, or take out the Chinchou with HP Grass. Also, Chinchou's arch nemesis Porygon is completely destroyed by Rufflet. Rufflet doesn't really need much assistance to do work on its own since Bronzor (pwned by Chinchou) is pretty much the only thing that I've seen that can tank it, but playing VoltTurn with Chinchou and Rufflet is a huge momentum grabber, and just an interesting core.

This is far from perfect but it's cute:

    Snubbull (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Intimidate
    EVs: 196 HP / 196 Atk / 116 Def
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Play Rough
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Punch
    - Thunder Wave

    Growlithe (F) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Intimidate
    EVs: 76 HP / 176 Def / 36 SAtk / 196 SDef
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Flamethrower
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Morning Sun
    - Toxic

Double Intimidate core checks a pretty good amount of threats, I'd like to fit Knock Off somewhere, dunno if Snubbull gets it... Anyway, it's kinda weak to special threats so I chucked Chinchou in!

    Chinchou (F) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Volt Absorb
    EVs: 236 HP / 52 Def / 148 SDef / 60 Spd
    Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
    - Scald
    - Volt Switch
    - Ice Beam
    - Heal Bell
Thinking about using rest/talk Heal Bell Set instead (also Idek about these EVs but w/e)
edit: Zoro says I suck </3 but Snubbull is a baller so idc

    Meditite (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Pure Power
    EVs: 116 HP / 196 Atk / 160 Def / 36 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Drain Punch
    - Fake Out
    - Bullet Punch
    - Zen Headbutt / Ice Punch
    +

    Stunky (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Aftermath
    EVs: 92 HP / 92 Atk / 60 Def / 28 SAtk / 188 SDef / 4 Spd
    Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Crunch
    - Sucker Punch
    - Pursuit

Meditite is free again! There he is again to boss people around with his whopping 28 attack, but it is held back by relative slow speed and Ghost types threaten it the most, even though Meditite can clean OHKO Specs Midreavus with Zen Headbutt after SR. Snubbul is also annoying to deal with. That's where Stunky comes in, though! Stunky can take care of Gastly and Misdreavus and surprise Snubbul with Sludge Bomb. The problem with Stunky is that Fighting-types easily take care of it. Sludge Bomb is a good start to solve this problem, but Scraggy can still set up a Dragon Dance or two, so a defensive Meditite in the wings is always great to have since it was one of the best Scraggy checks back in the day. Fake Out + Bullet Punch has saved my ass a lot of times, Drain Punch is the main STAB. In the 4th slot you choose between Zen Headbutt, a strong secondary STAB, or Ice Punch, great coverage on Flying-types (Gligar...). Stealth Rock support is always appreciated.
Will-o-Wisp Misdreavus is a pain, but usually Stunky can still put a dent in it.

    Sludge Bomb's relevance:
    28 SpA Stunky Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mienfoo: 10-13 (47.61 - 61.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
    28 SpA Stunky Sludge Bomb vs. 36 HP / 116 SpD Eviolite Snubbull: 14-18 (60.86 - 78.26%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
    (Spritzee) 28 SpA Stunky Sludge Bomb vs. 212 HP / 80 SpD Eviolite (custom): 12-14 (44.44 - 51.85%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock[/HIDE]

As much as it pains me, most effective core I've found in LC. Double t-wave is godtier support, foul play is reliable enough of an attack and swagger + sub is there because the things you can pull off are crazy. Obviously not perfect and you need to make sure the rest of your team handles mienfoo/scraggy or your going to have a shitty time. Try it out, you'll be surprised ^_^

    (Purrloin) (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Prankster
    EVs: 188 HP / 60 Def / 228 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Thunder Wave
    - Substitute
    - Swagger
    - Foul Play

    (Murkrow) (F) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Prankster
    EVs: 196 HP / 120 SDef / 192 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Thunder Wave
    - Substitute
    - Swagger
    - Foul Play

    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - U-turn
    - Drain Punch
    - Knock Off
    - Fake-out/Stone Edge/ Taunt

    (Slowpoke) (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Regenerator

    - Scald
    - Thunder-wave/Toxic
    - Slack Off

    (Foongus) (M) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Regenerator
    EVs: 124 HP / 156 Def / 76 SAtk / 76 SDef / 76 Spe
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Giga Drain
    - Spore
    - Stun Spore/Toxic/Synthesis
    - Sludge Bomb/Clear Smog/Synthesis

    Pretty obvious what this does.

Have fun beating this without murkrow/Abra or hazards.

    Spritzee (F) @ Eviolite
    Trait: Aroma Veil
    EVs: 212 HP / 196 Def / 12 SAtk / 76 SDef / 12 Spd
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Calm Mind / Aromatherapy
    - Protect
    - Moonblast
    - Wish

    +

    Munchlax (F) @ Berry Juice
    Trait: Thick Fat
    EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 SDef
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Recycle
    - Body Slam
    - Fire Punch
    - Earthquake

Pretty cool defensive core I've been testing out. Spritzee heal Munchlax with Aroma / Wish and provides a Fighting resistance. Spritzee takes on Fighting types like Mienfoo, Timburr and Scraggy. Lax takes care of Magnemite and Ponyta with EQ. Fire Punch on Lax it for Levitating Ghosts like Missy (It beats non WoW variants). Between Recycle + Berry Juice and Wish from Spritzee, Lax never dies. Pair this with a Fighting types to take care of annoying Pawniard. Mons that cant be 2hko'd by krow is appreciated too.

One of my favorite FWG core (I have a lot). Checks so much shit its ridiculous. Such things include: fighting types, murkrow, chinchou, ferroseed, honedge and more~

The sets are obviously tweakable, these are just the ones I run on mah current team c:

Not listing cottonees set cuz lazy and im pretty sure everyone knows what it does

Anywho, nothing new here. Just use cottonee to annoy the opponent (and hopefully paralyze missy) until ziggy can come in and clean up late game.
Some suggested/necessarry moves for cotton (in no particular order): Memento, stun spore, knock off, HP fighting (no one likes pawniard :c), Encore, Taunt and your choice of SubSeed or an attack (you can run both but it really isn't worth it imo)
